A structured Markov chain model to investigate the effects of pre-exposure vaccines in tuberculosis control

In this paper, the interest is in a structured Markov chain model to describe transmission dynamics of tuberculosis (TB) setting small communities hosts sharing confined spaces, and explore potential impact new pre-exposure vaccines on reducing number TB cases during an outbreak disease. The under consideration incorporates endogenous reactivation latent tubercle bacilli, exogenous reinfection latently infected hosts, loss effectiveness vaccine protection, death due bacilli from causes beyond TB. Various probabilistic measures are defined analytically studied extreme values vaccinations outbreak, random version basic reproduction used measure initial phase epidemic. Our numerical experiments allow us compare different versus level coverage terms these measures.
